
European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR)
The European Convention on Human Rights is an international treaty designed to protect human rights and fundamental freedoms in Europe.
Drafted in 1950 by the Council of Europe, it came into force on 3 September 1953. The Convention established the European Court of Human Rights, allowing individuals to bring cases against member states that violate their rights under the Convention.
